GETTIN’ THERE

YOU→ SAYULITA

The closest airport to Sayulita is Puerto Vallarta (PVR) airport.

  • If you are coming from San Diego, you can fly out of the San Diego International Airport or fly out of the Tijuana Airport (TIJ) using the Cross Border Xpress (CBX).

  • Flights out of TIJ are rad for convenience, saving some money, direct non-stop flights & skipping out on current COVID testing. We love doing it this way and would highly recommend using this to your advantage if you are able! Read the CBX section below for more information & some fun tips! Make sure to select TIJ (Tijuana) as the airport NOT TIJX. You will add CBX tickets after your original search.

  • If you are coming from other airports, still fly into PVR.

  • Direct flights from the Tijuana Airport and San Diego International Airport to Puerto Vallarta are just over 2 hours.

You will need a valid US Passport to travel internationally :)

Wanna fly out of TIJ?

  • Cross Border Xpress (CBX) is an airport terminal located in Chula Vista, California. Get a ride there or leave your car in their safe and convenient parking areas. They offer a variety of parking pricing. For example, a basic lot is $15 per day and valet is $30 per day.

  • When purchasing your flights, you may have the option to add CBX round trip passes with your airline tickets (these are around $30 & you’ll need them). If you did not have that option with your flight purchase, or just want to purchase them straight up, head over to their website to get one beforehand https://www.crossborderxpress.com/en/tickets . Make sure to choose the Round Trip pass for your way there and back (unless you don’t plan on coming back to reality). They also offer discounts for families, purchasing beforehand, military, etc.

  • You can always purchase your CBX pass once you arrive at the facility. Purchasing before just saves you possible lines & time :)

  • Once you arrive, you will head to the right and fill out a simple immigration form. You will need to scan your passport and enter info about where you are going & for how long. There are people there to assist you, if need be.

  • You will go through security and start walking through the large building

“Cross Border Xpress (CBX) which is an indoor pedestrian bridge exclusively for passengers of the Tijuana International Airport that allows passengers to cross the border between Mexico and the United States. The bridge is 390 feet long and connects the Tijuana International Airport with a service terminal in San Diego.”

  • If you use the CBX+ TIJ route you WILL NOT need a COVID test to come back home. Loop hole

If you want more information, click the Cross Border Xpress button below to head to their website.

Make sure to select TIJ as the airport/ destination you are flying to NOT TIJX.

HOW TO CBX?

This set up is super easy and people can help you along the way if you need it! No stress - you are vacaying!

Make sure to get to the airport around 1.5 - 2 hours before your flight boards.

Watch until the end ;)

Flying out of the United States?

Here’s what you need before boarding a flight back into the United States from Mexico. If you are not using CBX and are flying from a US airport:

  • U.S. citizens who are not fully vaccinated will need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test one (1) day before their return flight home.

  • U.S citizens who are fully vaccinated will need to present airlines with proof of vaccination AND a negative COVID-19 test three (3) days before their flight.

This information was updated on Nov 8, 2021 and is subject to change. There is no requirement in order to fly into Mexico. Check out the US Embassy button below for travel updates.

If you need testing done while in Sayulita, we recommend using Sayulita Covid Testing Center. Check out the button below to schedule your COVID test. There are a few locations so pick one closest to where you are staying or nearby (one is located in the Sayulinda Hotel, next to Billabong- right in the heart of town). If you have a group of 4 or more you can even schedule onsite testing (where they come to you!) These tests range from $50-$60 USD.

YOU LAND IN PUERTO VALLARTA..

Sayulita is about a 40 minute ride through the lush jungle from PVR.

We do not recommend renting a car, as Sayulita is a small, walkable town with TIGHT people filled roads & it won’t be necessary once you arrive (literally there will be hardly anywhere to park it).

Taxi prices vary but are usually around $45-$50 each way. No need to pre-book anything for this option. Once you are at the airport there will be many taxi drivers out front, ready to gooo!

Some hotels offer a transportation service when you book OR you can arrange a car service for a round trip fee usually around $130. Private cars usually include a fully stocked SUV with beer & water. They also come with a trip to the local supermarket to stock up on any necessities you’ll want for your ride or stay! SayulitaLife.com has tons of information on EVERYTHING Sayulita, including rad transportation options with reviews and photos. When booking through there, a driver will email you to get set up (payment is done after you ride). If you are traveling with a larger group- a car service would be a good way to stay together but if you are travelin’ low profile hop in a cab.

Another cool option is, Uber. If you cross the pedestrian bridge across the highway from the airport, you can call an Uber.

When you exit baggage claim, you will be greeted by many salespeople from hotels and car services in the area. Just walk past them with a smile and and head straight outside towards a TAXI OR PRIVATE CAR, let your driver know the place you are staying and just sit back & enjoy the journey to paradise!
